If you want to discuss operating systems, from a mobile standpoint, Android is among the most prominent. Anyone that works in mobile app development will be able to agree, seeing as how they have most likely created programs with said OS in place. With that said, how much do you actually know about Android? After all, it's one of the most detailed platforms in the world. Here are just 3 talking points that are worth going over.

According to Andy Rubin, one of Android's co-founders, Android was actually intended to be used for digital cameras. Despite this initial focus, when Google was acquired in 2005, the focus changed in order to focus more on smartphones. Needless to say, this change was for the best, as it allowed Android to expand and become a more heavily used platform. Nonetheless, many people don't know that digital cameras were focused on at the onset.

Next, despite what you may think due to their connection, Google actually didn't create Android. For those that don't know, Android was actually founded in 2003, before Google swooped in two years later so that they could acquire it. It's easy to see why one is associated with the other, but creation was not one of the aspects shared. This is an important piece of history to keep in mind, especially among those that are longtime Android users.

What about some of the statistics that mobile app development specialists can tell you about? You may be interested to know that there are more than 1 billion Android users around the world. In fact, with over 100 languages being supported, it would make sense for this level of global reach to be seen. This operating system's install base continues to grow at an accelerated pace, which is why it's in the best interest of names such as Lounge Lizard to continually focus on it.

Operating systems come in many forms, and it's easy to see that Android is among the most prominent. Anyone that specializes in mobile app development will tell you that this system is not only important, but meant to be built upon over the course of time. There are many people that prefer this OS over others, after all. By continually appealing to them, building programs that they can use, mobile usage will only increase.
